Here's Why You Should Stop Saying “I Hate Marketing”

I hear it all of the time from people: “I hate marketing.” Or some other rendition of why they don’t “do” marketing or why it doesn’t work for them. And maybe once upon a time I would let it slide. But friend, no more. We’re coming up on a new year and I’m not going to let you work with the same ol’ mind tricks anymore.

Because if nothing changes, nothing changes. And telling yourself you hate marketing is not serving you, and it’s certainly not helping your business.

Are Old Plans Keeping You in a Holding Pattern?

When you run a business having an ongoing to-do list is common and a good thing. Keeping an eye on your short term and long term goals is smart, and a solid way to keep your business moving.

It’s also very easy to become chained to that to-do list. Allowing it to dictate what you should and shouldn’t be doing; holding you back and keeping you stuck.

What Do Peaches & Your Business Have in Common?

I was listening to Carrie Green's book "She Means Business" today on my afternoon walk, and my ears perked up when she referenced this quote:

You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody that hates peaches.

- Dita Von Teese

Carrie uses the quote to introduce the reader to a situation she had earlier in her career, that made it crystal clear you simply can not get everyone to like what you do.
